Jonas Brothers Trampoline in Concert - Nick Jonas and brothers bounce on stage trampoline

Trampolines are everywhere, even in concert halls in front of thousands of screaming fans. At a recent Jonas Brothers concert, there was a trampoline built into the stage that allowed for some fun in between singing sets.

Even the Jonas Brothers Trampoline has trampoline safety pads! What a great idea to have a trampoline as part of a stage set for their concert. Nick Jonas takes turns bouncing on the trampoline.

Check out the cool front flip in front of such a big crowd. Trampolines make fun stage props too, especially for the Jonas Brothers.

Halloween - How to roast pumpkin seeds

Several trampoliners are asking about how to roast pumpkin seeds, so thought you would enjoy some of these helpful tips.

As trampoliners there are several ways to get the seeds out of the pumpkin when carving it. You simply cut a hole in the top and remove the top piece. Then you can either get on the trampoline and start jumping up and down to get the seeds out and leave them to dry overnight so you can pick out the dry seeds and wash the rest of the muck away.

Or you can try to seperate the seeds by hand as much as possible and then boil them in salted water for about 15-20 min. This also helps seperate the seeds from the "guts" and will not create a mess on your trampoline. You then spread the seeds out on a baking tray and let stand overnight.

On the next day, you simply take the dry seeds on the tray, make sure they are spread out and put them in the oven for about 20-30 minutes at 325 degrees f.
You can keep an eye on them to make sure they are just turning a little golden brown.

Then simply sprinkle them with your favorite topping and enjoy! You can top the roasted pumpkin seeds with salt, garlic salt, flavored salt, butter or margarine, or other sprinkly delights. See Halloween Roasted Pumpkin Seeds for more.

Trampoline to improve your Cheerleading -How to Jump Higher

Want the secret to jumping higher?

Practise, Exercise and actually jumping. Jumping reinforces the muscle groups needed when jumping, that makes sense. From jumping up onto a small wooden box (and stepping back down, not jumping down), to calf raises, there are several exercises you can do regularly to increase your muscle memory.

Here is a video on increasing your jumping height that you can apply to dance, gymnastics and cheerleading. The first half goes over how to do a Cheerleading jump.

Developing these power jumps can help you get more height on the trampoline!

Bazoongi Trampolines for kids

Bazoongi Trampolines look like fun for kids of all ages. There are even little trampolines with a handrail for holding on to for the very young. Their 7.5 foot trampoline by Bazoongi Kids is actually very low in price. 7.5' Foot Trampoline by Bazoongi Kids There is even a treehouse trampoline tent by Bazoongi - Treehouse Trampoline Tent by Bazoongi
that transforms a regular trampoline into a treehouse (and fortifies the enclosure as well), kind of like bouncing inside one of those bouncy castles. Great fun for younger kids.

Trampoline Type

There are many different trampoline types to consider. The old school trampolines cause many injuries though to the point insurance companies may not cover visiting friends from getting injured on the trampoline! (check with your insurance company to see if your homeowner policy covers visiting kids). The safest type of trampoline is a spring free trampoline with an enclosure net and no portruding hardware. There are also in ground models you can have even with the ground (but these require special attention so you do not take away the air buffer needed under the trampoline in order to contract and expand with the jumps). If your trampoline does have springs, make sure you have trampoline pads around the edges and best to jump one at a time. In the end ,the best type of trampoline to get should have you considering the safety features of each type.

Trampoline Ladder step

Trampoline safety is not complete without an entrance/exit trampoline ladder step. These come in both 2 and 3 step versions and prevent broken ankles and the likes from jumping off of a high trampline onto uneven ground. The trampoline ladders retrofit easily.

Cameron does some cool flips on the trampoline

This is our friend Cameron on his trampoline. Watch him do some cool flips. Notice the two times he may have flown off of the trampoline had it not been for the safety enclosure. That just helps focus on the tricks instead of worrying about falling off or injuring yourself by hitting the edge or hardware connected to the edge. He also sprays cold water on the trampoline to keep it comfortable and mallable. He is appearing on the new kids site http://www.fitforafeast.com/ with more trampoline tips.

Trampoline Safety - How do Trampoline Injuries Occur?

Recently stumbled upon an article from a Doctor saying to avoid all trampoline use. The article's undertone would most likely be that general safety precautions should be observed when doing any activiy. That goes from wearing helmet while riding bikes to wearing seatbelts while riding in a car. It also means using safety pads all the way around the trampoline and having a safety net around it. Further you can eliminate collision risk by using the trampoline 1 person at a time, or if more than that, then not to try outlandish tricks when there is more than one person on the trampoline.

The article went on to say that most injuries on the trampoline occur when 2 or more people collide resulting in broken or fractured bones etc... or when a bouncer falls on the metal railing surrounding the trampoline or falls off of the trampoline (again both of these types can mainly be avoided by assuring the safety pads around the trampoline are installed and in good shape and that there is a safety net around the trampoline.

As with any sport, having the equipment in good working order, getting all the necessary safety gear to reduce chance of injury ahead of time and observing basic sane practises can go along way to avoid becoming an emergency room statistic.
Go ahead an bounce away! Just give yourself the benefit of the doubt by being aware of the safety aspect of trampolining.

Types of Trampolines, securing trampolines

Looking at all of the different brands and types of trampolines can be overwhelming. There are so many places to source trampolines from including the brands DDI Sports, Parkside, Jump Pro, Jumpsport, Pro Jump, Skywalker, Airzone, Variflex, Fun Spot, JumpKing, Hedstrom, NBF, Sky Bouncer, Bazoongi, Bollinger, Supertramp, Leisure Kingdom, Bravo Sports, Propel, JumpZone, Leisure Bouncer, Orbounder, Lifestyle USA, American, Sky Bouncer, Sundance, Euro Active, Sportspower, Bounce Pro, High Jump, Walmart, Kmart, Dicks Sporting Goods, Academy Sports, Sports Authority, Sams Club, Costco, Toys R Us, Menards, BJ's, Modell's, Sports Chalet.

Surely you can find a fitting trampoline from one of these places. No matter how strong the trampoline frame may seem, do not underestimate the need to tie down the trampoline. It only takes one high wind storm to actually blow over and away a heavy trampoline. We have witnessed ourselves a 12x18 foot oval trampoline (Costco) with metal frame being knocked over by 100 km winds and sent blown over to the neighbors yard. In that case at that time a few people can battle the winds and set the trampoline on the opposite side of the house from the source of the wind direction to get you by the storm, but the best precaution is to use Trampoline Tiedowns and secure it during calm weather for peace of mind even when away from home.

The worst is watching the news from a vacation destination as to how your home town with your trampoline is experiencing high winds. Then you cannot sleep all night picturing the heavy trampoline barreling down the yards and possibly damaging fences, homes or even people or animals. So a little precaution goes a long way.

How to get injured on a Trampoline

Getting injured on a trampoline is not something we strive to do when using one. A little common sense goes a long way to preventing some of the most common trampoline injuries which can result in broken bones etc...

Colliding with another person. Almost 3/4 of trampoline injuries occur in exactly this way. How to avoid it? Take turns!

Landing incorrectly when jumping or trying stunts. How to avoid it? Start slowly when learning a new stunt and make sure it is within the jumpers ability. No medals will be won in the backyard for attempting a triple lindy or such, but overdoing it can result in preventable injury.

Falling or jumping off of the trampoline and breaking, twisting ankle or leg(s). Well not jumping off of the trampoline onto hard ground should be one way to avoid breaking a bone when jumping off of a trampoline. Getting trampoline pads to go around the trampoline and a safety net are also important safety items that can eliminate this risk.

Falling on trampoline springs or metal frame, ouch! This can also be prevented by having a safety net and trampoline pads. Get a quality trampoline that comes with the safety net all around.

So if we just use the trampoline with one person at a time and avoid flips that can cause neck injury or even paralysis, have the trampoline pads installed around the perimeter of the trampoline and/or a good safety net and do not allow young kids to use the trampoline unsupervised.

Avoiding all of this advice will surely increase the likelihood of getting injured on a trampoline. Hopefully some of these safety ideas can be implemented so you can enjoy the trampoline and stay safe!

Trampoline Enclosure prevents injuries

A trampoline enclosure can make the difference between getting hurt and trying that move again. It also provides a barrier to everyone just jumping on the trampoline while someone else is on it by having a single entrance and exit. These so called "safety net enclosures" are available in many diffent sizes. Some of the enclosures such as the Jumpsport type have double and triple reinforcement and are durable and safe. New Slam Dunk Record with Trampoline

The long standing 21 foot record held by a Japanese athlete was broken this Sunday (April 19, 2009) by a 13 year old British Boy. The leap which began on a trampoline was about 23 feet long to the hoop.

Jordan began by jumping as high as he could using the launch trampoline and when he built up enough height and momentum, he launched forward to dunk the ball. Video of this new record will be posted as it becomes available after Sky 1 airs "Guinness World Records Smashed".

Trampoline Safety

Here are some common sense pointers to assure a safe trampoline Spring and Summer season:

First the obvious, make sure there are no holes in the trampoline and that the trampoline pads are in good shape. If you need to replace the trampoline pad, then you can get them online for quick delivery. Sometimes they need to be replaced every 3-5 years depending on use and how they are stored over the winter.

Make sure there are no obstructions near the trampoline that could cause injury and keep the underside of the trampoline clear of any stored or other items. (bad place to store outdoor furniture...). It is best to have one person on the trampoline at a time using the center of the trampoline. Remember the most trampoline injuries occur when 2 or more people use the trampoline at the same time and bump into each other. This happens more often than you think, so for serious trampolining, one at a time is best. That way the other person(s) can be spotters on trampolines without safety nets. At least you should have the safety pads as landing on a metal frame can cause serious injury. So just get some trampoline pads and avoid this.

So you can enjoy trampolining and learn new skills slowly until you become proficient. It is great fun, great exercise and a great way to get outdoors either on your own or with friends.

World Record Trampoline Jump

This is hilariously cool! A world record trampoline jumper slam dunks a basketball after taking off from a trampoline. Just one of the many trampoline skills to develop.

Trampolinepad

12 Foot Trampoline Pad

Spring has arrived and the trampoline is being setup outdoors again. Make sure your trampoline pads are in good shape or get good quality pads to protect the jumpers. Note the pads come in different sizes. One of the most popular sizes it the 12 foot round trampoline.

Another thing to consider is that if you are in a "wind tunnel" area where the trampoline may blow away during a windstorm, you can drive some stakes into the ground and tie the trampoline down. Will explore various ways of tying down a trampoline in a future post, but some suggestions include putting a bolt right through one of the legs and through the stake, or you could use thick wire or rope and tie it around the trampoline and through a hole in the stake. In any case, 10 minutes of work now will save you the aggrevation of chasing the trampoline down the yard if a wind storm should come, just something to keep in mind.

Once the trampoline pads are on and the trampoline is secure, the fun can begin!

Trampoline with trampoline pads is a safe, great way to get exercise and have fun!

Trampolining is great exercise and great fun. With a few safety precautions including the use of a trampoline enclosure and/or trampoline safety pads, injuries can be kept to a minimum. With any form of exercise or sport, there is always the risk of injury. On a trampoline it can be collision risk (ie. colliding with another person, having one of your own limbs strike yourself...) but again with some common sense and having the precautionary trampoline safety pads or enclosure, the big injuries can be minimized.

This blog will highlight the enjoyment, exercise and also comraderie that your own trampoline will provide. By applying common sense, basic trampoline instruction, using a safe, sturdy trampoline protected by a trampoline pad, you will have hours of enjoyment without breaking the bank and also get to wear off some of that built up energy and some calories too.

Will be selecting and providing trampoline videos on a regular basis, so get jumpin!
